Miiverse: Rotom-W's Newest Enemy + ORAS RANT

To be honest, I was never looking forward to Hoenn remakes because I highly doubted they were going to happen. Then Game Freak makes the announcement for Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire and I have mixed feelings about it since it seems too much like an unnecessary fanservice that wouldn't be worth my time. All this hype for it kinda ruins it for me as well. Since its announcement, the only reason I was even looking forward to ORAS was the possibility of competing in contests, getting rare moves from Move Tutors in the Battle Tower/Frontier and hoping that we'd still have the pleasure of getting the most powerful baby Pokemon on our journey in the Egg from Lavaridge Town: Wynaut. Beyond that, I still wasn't really looking forward to it. But then, we get the leaks about the Mega Hoenn Starters and my interest is actually piqued. For those of you that don't know me well, I HATE STARTER POKEMON AND FIND THEM UNNECESSARY, SO I'M NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO MEGA SCEPTILE OUT OF ANY KIND OF NOSTALGIC ATTACHMENT EVEN IF I DO PREFER THE GRASS STARTERS. Mega Sceptile interests me because of its possible competitive value.

Pop Quiz: What Pokemon besides Garchomp has been most common in OU? If you guessed Rotom-W, then you'd be right. Every competitive player has either battled or used Rotom-W at least once and know that they're a real pain to deal with. With Levitate, their only reliable weakness is the uncommon Grass, they usually run Will-O-Wisp to cropple most Physical Attackers and can either switch out with Volt Switch, do some good damage with Hydro Pump or heal up with Rest and a Chesto Berry.

It's almost as if Game Freak designed Mega Sceptile to be Rotom-W's worst nightmare. Mega Sceptile will  hopefully have more usable Special Attack stat so it won't have to worry about being crippled by Will-O-Wisp. Mega Sceptile will have the Lightningrod Ability, meaning that if it switches in on Rotom-W's Volt Switch, it gets a free Special Attack boost. Put this on a Grass/Dragon Pokemon's 4x Water resistance, and it won't even be tickled by Hydro Pump. Mega Sceptile can even retaliate with Giga Drain/Energy Ball or predict a switch and go for Dragon Pulse, Focus Blast or even a Hidden Power of choice.  I'm convinced that Mega Sceptile's very existence will knock Rotom-W down a tier or 2 or Mega Sceptile comes into higher tiers to deal with Rotom-W.

What do you think? Will Mega Sceptile just be an unnecessary nostalgia-induced weakling or something that might actually perform well in battle? What are you looking forward to most in the Hoenn remakes?
